Photographic Biographies

Photographs become an extremely important visual cue to people suffering dementia.

A specially prepared photographic biography becomes a tool for the dementia sufferer to assist them to recall people and events in their lives. It serves as a conduit of conversation for carers and becomes a valuable family heirloom in years to come.

We are able to use the preparation of a photographic biography as a therapeutic exercise in getting to know our clients, and in establishing a link with the person prior to their dementing illness.

We can make several visits to the client’s home to select with them, and their carers, the photographs to be used, and to gather the stories behind them. Books are also stored on CDROM (included in the cost).

Image restoration

We scan the photographs (No need to use originals, or to remove them from albums)
We have the facilities to repair damaged and aging or discoloured photographs.

These photographs are then printed, along with the story of the client’s life in a beautifully presented album….a “This is Your Life” book!

These books can accompany the client to residential respite, Day Centres, or to permanent residential care, where they can be used by staff to both communicate with the client, and to get to know more about their past.
